Thousands receive in the blessed month of Ramadan

Sunday, 21st July 2013

Families, old women and men, children and the physically challenged persons came in large numbers to benefit from the Pre-Ramadan food distributions arranged by Muslim Charity with the generous donations from our brothers and sisters in the United Kingdom. We would like to share some of the stories from the food distributions from the field and explain how your Sadaqah and donations helped the poor and needy.

Sharafee is from the suburbs of Burao in Somaliland. She came to the distribution centre with her youngest child, who is only four years old, in desperate need of food assistance, particularly due to the increase of prices for everything including vegetables. Just like all the babies, her son slept while she was busy making plans to cook and feed her family a hot meal during this month of Ramadan.

“Shukran Shukran” is what she expressed with a tear running down from her face. That’s all Umm Ibrahim in her late 50s could say along with lots of Dua’s for those who donated generously and made it possible for her and her grandchildren to have enough food for the month of Ramadan. “Last Ramadan, back home in Homs, Syria, I was helping the families in crises with food but now in Lebanon, I am getting help from Muslims in the UK “Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us).”

Waffa Khawald is in her late 40s, widowed with 4 daughters and 2 sons. They live in Deir Balah, South Gaza and rely on assistance from charities. Humble and welcoming of the food, she boasts of her three children who receive orphan sponsorships from Muslim Charity and can attend school in spite of their impoverished living conditions.

The recipients were thankful to Allah (most high), the joy, and feeling of belonging to the Ummah by the widows, old aged, children and physically challenged people in the field. “One could feel that the Dua’s are from their heart and tears are out of happiness and feelings of blessings of the month of Ramadan” (as explained by our team member in Gaza).

We would like to thank all of you who have generously supported our pre-Ramadan food distribution project but that is the beginning, please help us to make the final push to reach our goal of providing food for a million so we can continue to bring hope and nourishment to families in Palestine, Pakistan, Burma, Bangladesh, Somalia, Mali and Syria. Allah-willing.
