Seeking forgiveness from Allah and feeding the hungry
There are many reasons why Muslims might be unable to fast during the month of Ramadan; they may be unwell, pregnant or travelling. In these cases one must compensate by feeding a poor person for each day of fasting missed throughout the month of Ramadan. This practice is known as Fidya and is calculated according to the average cost of two meals a day.
Fidya is calculated at £5 per day (£150 for the full month of Ramadan).
